How Orange Slice builds AI agents to find sales leads with Kernel

Orange Slice used Kernel’s browser infrastructure to launch AI agents that turn any website into a qualified sales lead database, without having to build or operate infrastructure.

infra overhead

Kernel is ridiculously fast and reliable browser infrastructure. It’s one of the few pieces of infrastructure we haven’t had to worry about as we’ve scaled.

Kishan Sripada, Co-founder & CTO, Orange Slice

Orange Slice provides a sales enrichment spreadsheet and workflow builder. Typically, a customer will come to them and say, “Hey, I have this list of 500 people that I got from a conference. I’d like to get all their LinkedIns, qualify them, and find their emails and phone numbers.” Essentially, they help their customers to learn a little about each prospect and then push them into an email sequence. They are trusted by organizations such as Bloom, Novoflow, Pirros, Tau9 Labs, and many others.

At first, their use cases didn’t require any sort of browser infrastructure, but that was about to change.

Problem: Big opportunity, no scalable solution

Towards the middle of last year, Kishan and the team started hearing the same request from customers: “Here’s a website with a ton of data, can you just turn this into a structured lead list for my team?” A messy, live website was a very different input than a clean, static CSV from a conference, so they didn’t have any way to support this at scale out-of-the-box.

Without a real solution, customers either had employees copy‑pasting data by hand or hacked together one‑off scripts that broke whenever the site layout changed. Neither approach really worked, which is exactly why this new use case kept coming up.

For Kishan and the team, the opportunity was obvious: if they could reliably turn any website into a clean lead database, they could unlock an entirely new product surface for customers. But doing that meant quickly and reliably orchestrating fleets of browsers, dealing with bot detection, and keeping everything observable enough to debug when something went wrong. This is way more than they wanted to own in-house. That’s what pushed them to look for a solution to buy rather than build.

This opportunity was too good to ignore, but the cost of owning browser infrastructure was just as hard to justify. Operating fleets of browsers is hard, messy, and a massive distraction for our core product.

Solution: Selecting Kernel over Browserbase

As he dug into Kernel, he quickly leaned on a few key features: Browser Pools, Playwright Execution, and Stealth Mode. Together, these gave Orange Slice a fast, reliable foundation for turning any website into a structured lead database without having to build their own infrastructure. In particular, Kishan thought our Playwright Execution feature was “the way browser agents should run - at least for unstructured workflows.”

This worked well for unstructured workflows because it let him inject just‑in‑time logic into a browser instead of predefining rigid workflows up front. For example, to use a website’s search bar to find leads, an agent can open the site, type a test query like “A,” watch how results are returned, then iteratively refine its strategy until it has scraped all the leads. This kind of flexibility makes it easy to dynamically probe how any site behaves and then reuse most of that logic across other websites.

Besides Kernel, Kishan tried Browserbase but could not get the same reliability and latency they needed for their high-frequency web scraping use case. They also found the design of Browserbase’s framework, Stagehand, difficult to work with for their unstructured workflows.

Kernel is the only browser infrastructure provider that can actually run all of our web scraping needs in one platform. They handle everything from browser state and Playwright execution to proxies and CAPTCHA solving, so we don’t have to.

Results: Successful product launch in just a few weeks

Since launching, several customers have personally reached out to Kishan to commend on how “insanely well” it works. It even caught the attention of a leader at a large enterprise, which they are now working on a deal with.

Kernel makes it too easy to scrape any website and turn it into a lead database for sales organizations. There was no way we could have done it without Kernel, honestly.
